Having pace up front makes such a difference as it means the opposition defence has to play a bit deeper allowing us more space in midfield. Nice to see.

Where he fits in? I'd suggest he's fit in perfectly so far.

motd confirmed it was a good cross by Tomkins. Good goal all round.

I'm still worried about Valencia. Where he fits in. He's did work his butt off though I'll give him that.

Was by no means a classic and apart from 10 minutes at the beginning the second, was very comfortable.

Song MOTM for me, but everyone solid.

What formation do you lot think BFS is playing? Yesterday it looked like a 41212 diamond? Can't quite work it out as the two up top seem to play like two inside forwards rather than strikers, they are always quite far apart closing down the full backs rather than the centre backs.

Re: West Ham v QPR - Official Match Thread 2-0 FT
I thought it was a bit odd how the Sky pundits made out that the first goal was handball by Valencia, yet completely ignored the fact that Austin was fouling Valencia in the first place. If you're going to get picky about handball, how about recognising that it should really have been a penalty?

Mishit you say? Maybe, didn't look like it to me, but even if it was then good work by salho to anticipate it!

BBC Text reckons Tomkins' cross for our second was mishit... And there was me thinking it was a good bit of skill

Live here in NVa, and watched live, c/o NBC........underwhelming game which we ruined by scoring in the first 5 minutes.

Barely got out of 2nd gear.....snore.

We missed noble again. Overall I thought we were ok today. Last year we would have lost this though.

@TonyIncenzo: Harry Redknapp told me that fitness problems were caused by "matches in Germany & Ireland which was the worst pre season I've ever seen"

Happy days as a west ham fan. I'll actually look forward to seeing us play against man city this year, as I think we'll give them a game.

Re: West Ham v QPR - Official Match Thread 2-0 FT
Need Kouyate & Noble back in the middle ...won't be many teams as bad as QPR...

Zarate and even Song lost the ball too often...
Valencia needs to get up to speed in front of goal...works hard...runs a lot...but not enough end product...

Was interesting today though. Had a freebie from a customer and it was in the BM Upper. Do a lot of people these days take their kids who seem to have absolutely no interest in the football whatsoever and just either complain through the whole game, play games on their phone or hit their mate/brother/sister in the arm all the time?! It seems such a waste of money to me!!
